A family-founded, community-rooted caregiving centre in North Kolkata — placing verified, trained ayas, nurses and attendants into homes since 2016.
Gokul Aya Centre is a trusted home-care placement agency based at 2/135A, Dum Dum Road, Kolkata — 700074. Founded in 2016 by Biswajit Nandy, we place background-verified, trained ayas, nurses, attendants and domestic helpers into homes across North Kolkata. We have served 8,000+ families, cared for 10,000+ patients and trained 2,000+ caregivers — and every placement still carries the same promise our founder made from day one.
In the words of our founder, Biswajit Nandy:
I was young. My grandfather was ill. Not slightly ill — the kind of ill where someone needs to be beside them through the night, watching, caring, adjusting a pillow, giving water, wiping a forehead. My family tried everything. We called neighbours. We asked relatives in distant localities. We looked for an aya, a trained attendant, someone — anyone — who could come and help us through the night.
Nobody came.
My grandfather made it through that night on the love of our family alone. But that helplessness — that panic of searching and finding nothing — stayed inside me like a splinter. I never forgot it. And I made a promise to myself, in that dimly lit room in our home in Kolkata:
"One day, when someone in this city needs help, they will find it. I will make sure of it."
Gokul Aya Centre is that promise, kept.
Before our founder Biswajit Nandy trained a single worker, before he registered a single name — it was his mother who showed what real care looks like.
She taught him that caring for a patient is not just a job. It is a calling. She would sit with a sick person and talk to them. She would know when they needed medicine and when they needed silence. She knew how to bathe an elderly person with dignity, how to prepare a room for a newborn, how to cook the right food for a new mother recovering from childbirth.
When the first women came to work for Gokul Aya Centre, it was her who sat with them and taught them:
She did not train caregivers in a classroom. She trained them the way a grandmother trains a daughter — with patience, with demonstration, with love.
Whatever Gokul Aya Centre has become today, its foundation was built by her hands and her heart.
In 2016, Biswajit Nandy formally established Gokul Aya Centre at 2/135A, Dum Dum Road, Kolkata — 700074 — a small space with a notebook, a telephone, and one clear purpose.
He spoke to families in the neighbourhood. He listened carefully to what they needed. And he matched trained, verified, values-driven caregivers to each home — one placement at a time.
His rule from day one has never changed:
"I am not running a placement agency. I am sending a trusted person into someone's most private space — their home. I must be sure."
That rule drives every decision we make today.
Not because we promised the most — but because we showed up, every single time.
Every caregiver we place has been trained in the values that Biswajit Nandy's mother first taught — not rules written in a manual, but habits of care and character built through demonstration.
We screen for character, not just credentials. A caregiver who is technically capable but emotionally absent is not the right fit. We look for people who genuinely want to help.
From wound care to kitchen management to personal bathing routines — our caregivers are trained to maintain clinical hygiene standards in home settings. Clean, careful, and safe.
Bathing an elderly person, feeding a bedridden patient, supporting a new mother — these are deeply private acts. Our caregivers are trained to perform them with sensitivity and respect, so the person being cared for never feels diminished.
Our caregivers keep families informed — reporting changes in the patient's condition, communicating clearly, and always acting in the interest of the person in their care. The family is never left out.
If a caregiver we place isn't the right fit, we arrange a free replacement. This is our commitment to every family — not just to the placement.
Every caregiver is background-checked and ID-proofed before their first placement. They carry identity documentation. We do not send anyone we haven't personally vetted.
From a 5-day-old newborn to a bedridden 85-year-old, from a Japa maid for a new mother to a 24-hour live-in attendant for a dementia patient — we handle every stage and need under one roof. All Our Services include specialized Elder Care Service and more.
Families choose who they're comfortable with. We provide verified male attendants and female attendants across all our services.
We're not a large national agency. We are a neighbourhood centre, physically based in Dum Dum, personally connected to the communities we serve. When you call, we know your area. We reach you fast.
Illness and need don't follow a schedule. Our phone is answered around the clock. Urgent placements are handled immediately.
If you are caring for an elderly parent and you are exhausted — call us.
If you have just brought a newborn home and you need support — call us.
If your loved one just came home from hospital — call us.
If you need a trustworthy hand inside your home — call us.
We will not send the first available person. We will find the right person. And we will stand behind them.
"Our Heart Is Full Of Compassion For Your Care."
